Roof height?

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by SmokeyMcBlazer » Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:54 am

Not sure if its covered somewhere already or not but I can't seem to find any info on the roof heights on lifted TBs. My building has underground parking and it would become a huge inconvienence if I added so much lift that my truck no longer fits. But I still wanna go as big as I can. I haven't measured the garage yet but my dads new silverado fits with the antenna just snicking a few pipes in there. I will get a measurement and post it but for now does anyone know where I can find the roof height info or let me know what you're roof height and lift/tire size. Thanks a lot.

Can't remember off the top of my head how big our garage door opening is (I keep wanting to say 6ft), but she won't fit unless we take all the roof gear off and drop 100lbs of extra weight in the back to compress the z71 springs just enough.

Do you have the stock rack or a bigger aftermarket one? Thanks again for the replies

Edit: I checked your build thread, I guess you mean the offroad basket?

wouldn't it be eaiser to measure your truck and then the garage so you know how much higher you can go? other trucks springs may sag more then yours or other factors that could make them a different height then your with the same lift and tires. just my thoughts

I am going to do that, but I'm just going for some rough numbers before hand. Not quite ready to order parts yet but I figured I'd try for some basic info in the mean time

6'1.5", with MarkMC's 3" lift, 255/70/16's, stock rear springs, and Monroe sensa-matic complete struts up front. I believe those springs come out to the same rating as about the 83's

Nice, I was hoping to go with Marks 3inch and 265 75 16's so maybe right around your height give or take.

Mines about 6' 5" to the top of the roof rack rail. 7' 4" with the tire on the roof.

I think the minimum height on a standard garage door is 7ft. My truck is about 6'6" to the top of the roof rail without the roof rack.

7' is typical height of opening but doors don't allow full open unless adjusted just right. With nothing but stock rails on roof I can fit in 6' 10" parking garage. No rack, no crossbars.

Nope... 70 year olds, that only used to drive Cadillac's, and Lincolns.

Just measured the door to our underground. Its looking like right at 6ft 6in. So from what I'm reading I should be ok with Marks 3inch kit and 265's right?

You "should" be. It'll also depend on the angles of approach at the entrance to the underground parking (and elsewhere). I'd be inclined to think it'll be alright.

Well I guess I'll only really know after the lift when I bring it home lol! I just closed out the sale of my old 4runner so I'm gonna order the lift and spacers in the next day or so. Also planning on getting the Massive traction package( http://www.massivespeedsystem.com/_mass ... 61256.aspx ) and Smaxx links( http://www.suspensionmaxx.com/chevy-tra ... -2002-2003 )( http://www.suspensionmaxx.com/chevy-tra ... -2002-2009) . Is there a really good a-arm bushing or?

Thanks again for the help and info.

To be honest, if you're running 265/75/16 you won't necessarily need to kick back* the axle. Those who do are running 33+, and do so due to rubbing. Just food for thought, to save yourself $500.

EDIT: specificity

Adjustable pan-hard bar would be beneficial, to recenter the axle, after the lift.

Build your own links instead of smaxx
