Front End Rebuild

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

When I do my RadFlo install I'm going to take the time and rebuild as much of the front end as possible. After ten years of no front end maintinace I think this would be a wise move.

I found this list on v7guy's build thread. What's your opinion on what's necessary before I get a front end alinement.

The control arm bushings are going to be a huge pain to replace. You would be better off to pick up upper and lower control arms off of ebay. These are what I just recently bought and am pretty happy with them.

Matt is correct, the bushings are a huge pain in the ass, you can save some money going with them, but generally speaking I have doubts it's really worth it unless you just want to do it that way.

As far as front end work that's pretty much everything.

Or you can just get the control arm brackets for $50 bucks a piece at summit racing. I would suggest to do the inner tie rods. There easy to do and that way your front end will be nice and tight.........just my 2 cents

They have the part number for inner and outer tie rod ends on the list. It just doesn't specify that he needs 2 of each.

Believe me when I say I know all about replacing bushing :wallbash: But the lower arms are nice chunk of change

Are you planning on replacing all three sets of bushings on each lower control arm? The set where the strut tower connects were in pretty bad shape on mine and I didn't see how it could be replaced at all. It may be something for you to look at / consider. There are cheaper prices on Ebay then what I posted, just take some time and look around. These are the ones I bought, I just couldn't find them last night.

It should be noted that with the mevotech arms, when I helped install them on another gmt, there needed a fairly significant amount ground off the bracket to even get the bolt to go through. It also may be of interest to know that on Moots truck the balljoints lasted less than 9 months... the bushings are still ok though.

There are some benefits to swapping the individual parts. But as mentioned it's a tremendous amount of work.

You'll notice (if you look close) the price is specified as the price for 2, it's not as broke down as in the rest of the post, but it's there. It's also important to mention that those are for the HD rod end conversion, not for the stock pieces.
