lolol, you have to get it out of the way first??? Come on Mike, even I know better than to phrase it that way! I would think of it that way... but not say it! lol :poke:

It's an awesome ride. I love the 14 bolt rear and the LS2 that would be expensive upgrades. There really aren't many other differences. A large percentage of LT's are better loaded than my SS. I didn't want it too loaded. I sure wish I had figured out steering wheel radio controls though.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with our LTZ, and that's why I've kicked the 5.3L swap idea too around. I know some folks think it's cheaper to find a SWB 5.3L but I haven't seen one crop up in awhile, but I have seen now 3 EXT v8's for sale over the past couple of months and 1 of them was listed for 3K which would mean my hit on swap over and sell off wouldn't be too harsh. I mostly am looking for torque for towing an airstream while maintaing the current lift and being able to do the speed limit up a hill in colorado. Well... that's my idea anyways. But the 5.3L comes in at 305hp at the crank. They are modable (is mod-able even a word, lol) however. I don't need a serious amount to the wheels just as long as the torque curve is good. Just kind of think the SS would be a beefier base to start with.

I've done weekend engine swaps before, so it's not a lack of ability. Just a lack of to many ongoing projects at the moment. Still, I can discuss possibilities all day.

I hear ya. The transmision is a touch beefier but the engines have a lot more power... So the transmision becomes the weekest link in the SS. The engine and rear axle are without doubt stronger. I have mixed feelings about the stock transfercases.... And thats why I have an upgraded 2500HD transfercase. LOL A stock SS is a lean mean trailer pulling machine. I have a 16' enclosed trailer with 7,000# gvwr... My SS pulled it pretty loaded very well.

When we had our transmission rebuilt, the shop actually walked us through what the SS guys are using to build up and beef up their transmissions. We opted for just about everything they do with the exception of a $1k part that was designed for increased performance for drag racing.

Thats great! If youve beefed up your 4L60E and run it behind your 4.2 it should hold up awesome. There are only a few internal parts inside that change it to the SS 4L70E. Yours could be as good or better!

$2800 if memory serves me correctly. The difference was, a stock rebuild was $1400.00

No idea, and because of the price, I'm guessing not. Most SS's here range from 22-29K. :hissyfit:

I skimmed over it. It looks lowered. That shouldnt be a problem as you would replace all of those parts with lift kit.

Has anyone considered starting with a 2wd TBSS for SAS?

I did the rear seat removable thing. As the write up suggested, I used 3/8 x 1 5/8" pins. The kind with the ball. The tag at the store called them "Cotterless Hitch Pins." Super Easy, I suggest everyone consider it!

Honestly, If I got an SS, I would leave it as is. They are sick looking already, and I've never driven one but I imagine they ride pretty sick too. Plus I have my TBLS which is already my 'seasoned' offroad toy.
