Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Squeaky Steering Wheel

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by Conner299 » Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:13 pm

The subject header pretty much describes what has been going on. I've just been curious to know if anyone else has had the same problem. When the wheel turns, its almost like a rubber against metal sound. I'll try to get some video w/audio. Its hard, at the moment, to accurately describe the sound.

There's a lot of stuff that can rub. Take the housing off, then listen closer inside. Then take off the wheel if it seems like it's still in the shaft area. If that sounds like work, then just spray the shit out of everything with a silicone spray through a straw into the cracks and go on more offroad trips so the other squeaks you start up will drown out this small annoyance. :friday:

I figured that's all it probably was. I'm surprised I'm not taking a whole lot more ribbing for this post. I was mainly curious if anyone else had experienced the same.

While you were sleeping, there were over 50 increasingly mocking posts insulting your sensitive ears, suggesting you would also notice a pea-size pebble on the floor under your seat, and recommending better subwoofers to drown out the noise. The thread went viral, and was discussed on Pirate4X4 as proof that Trailblazer offroaders were wussies. I had to delete them all and clean up the thread because that's not our culture here.

LMFAO!!!! I was honestly looking at those, since the Ol' Lady drives Bertha every once in awhile. Wanted it to have a nice "feminine" feel to it. And don't forget the head-light eyelash mod.

I'm surprised you notice any squeaks or rattle over the big tires wailing while you go down the road. Oh wait... :raspberry:

Sounds like the wheel is rubbing on something... but I'd be more worried about getting some gas in that mofo. You can ruin the pump suckin up sediment in the tank.

The noise is a new one to me.

There's plenty of gas in it... The fuel gauge just doesnt work. I think I had about 200 on the trip odometer, so I probably had about 6 or 7 gallons left in it. Yes, I do plan on getting the fuel gauge fixed. Its covered by the insurance we got from the dealer when we bought it. Just been too lazy to schedule it in. Makes for some fun over the road trips. "Honey, should we stop at 300 miles to fill up, or push it to 350..."
