Exhaust for offroad

hey cbbryan...

How much was your catback system...and what really is the best system to go with if you want to dual your exhaust?...
I've been wanting a better way to dual my exhaust besides goin with magna flows which i dont like that much...

First of all I do have the Magnaflow. It was $985.24 then I paid to have it installed which was another $130 I think. I've ssen one with straigh pipes before and that didn't look bad, but I'm not too sure of other products.

I just don't know if I wanna go as loud as what you have.
I for sure do want a cat back system but I just don't want my truck to be "attract the cops" loud since I am only 21 and the cops in TN don't really like 21 year olds with loud trucks...do any other companies make comparable cat backs for the TB?

Well I live in MS and honestly it's not that loud just don't mash on it everywhere you go and you won't have a problem. You can tell a difference between the Magnaflow and no muffler, glass packs, and crusing the baffels in the muffler which is what draws a lot of attention around where I live. I don't think you have anything to worry about I taken mine throught TN a few times without ever getting pulled over and I drive 15 over on average.

FYI--I have under $200 installed in mine which is basically a cat-back system. Bought the tip and muffler off the net and went to the local exhaust place for install. They quoted me 260 for install with their knockoff flowmaster and chrome tip, but I knew roadie didn't like his flowmaster and I didnt like the sound clips I heard so I ordered some stuff and just took it in. Install was only 1 hour for all pipe and part welded and one bolt on hanger for the angled exit.

I've got the hooker aerochamber on my trans am and i really like it, its not annoying at idle, but when you get on it it sounds like all hell is breaking loose!!!!

i had the flowmaster hush power 2 series muffler on my last truck and it worked out realllly well. I would get compliments on the sound from everyone. they were all confused because it sounded like i had an 8 cyl. but it was just an inline 5 hahaha. plus it is small and easy to tuck away from rocks and shit. give it a look.

Getting a quote on Monday from my old exhaust shop for a dual side-exit system... Going to try and use the same model flo-pro v-force muffler I had installed on my old blazer. Sound clip attached from the 4.3l v6.

If you're making a camping vehicle, you probably don't want exhaust on both sides. If you're running your engine while at camp, you want to shoot the exhaust away from the back of the vehicle for sure, but it's also handy to have it only on one side. That way you can set up the tent or awning on the other side, and be free of the fumes!

EDIT, there's a limit of 256 kb per upload... your Wav may be exceeding that?

That was a single exit exhaust, stock cat, 3" piping, single in/out Flo-Pro Vforce muffler on a 95 Chevy Blazer with the 4.3L Vortec V6 CPI engine.

Right now my Trailblazer has some type of Flowmaster 40 series with dual outlets that the previous owner had installed and I have to say that it sounds HORRIBLE. It's insanely loud and it drones worse than any exhaust I've ever had on any car.

I'm going to try replacing it with one of these from Dynomax



I've got some Dynomax bullets that I bolt directly to the headers on my Trans Am, essentially running open headers. And It is amazingly quiet considering that it's 12:1 compression 650+ hp motor with just headers and bullets. So hopefully that muffler will quiet down my Trailblazer some too

I originally was just gonna hack off the res, and leave it under the truck, no tip. Went to a friends shop across from work and he had a Flowmaster 70 in the back that was collecting dust (customer ordered like 2 years ago and never came back). He wanted to get rid of it, so he sold it to me, welded it in, with a 3" normal Flowmaster tip for $130. I enjoy the sound at low RPM's, and up into the middle range. With the AirRaid intake and res delete, it sounds pretty awesome, but the exhaust sounds good until about 4K RPM's....

I think pretty much all of the Exhausts for our engine sound good, but get annoying around 4k... The magnaflow i had acually didn't sound bad at high rpm's it was more the low rpm's that I wasn't a huge fan or, not enough rumble. Until I figure out a way to get the rumble I won't be modding my stock exhuast with the res delete. (The magnaflow would have acutually been just about the best sound with the resonators off, but it was too loud overall without tips since it would exit under the truck.)
