Not a whole lot to introduce about myself. Member of Trailvoy.. I'm sure you've heard of me one way or another.. the famous hydrolocked trailblazer.. belongs to me. Good as new now. Currently have the roof rack off, due to profiling issues with some of the local law enforcement agencies. Seeing how I am working on going through the police academy I do plan to put the rack back on.

Glad to see a site where we can discuss issues related directly to offroading, and hopefully not have to waste our time with people who continue to ask the same questions day in and day out.

Welcome! You are indeed well known here. At least you're not a mall cruiser. :shoot:

Just beware of mockage for that little water issue. :poke:

WELCOME! I was just thinking about you, actually. You still in landscaping? I've got a huge yard that could use some attention... you do design work? LOL

Ah, no worries I deserve a bit of grief for my very costly mistake. As far as landscape design goes.. I do not do designing, I only have two clients who I maintain their yards, seeing how I am at the academy 5 days a week 8-5 I'm not having much time for anything else. But the academy is only 3 months long, and it's been my dream as long as I can remember. It's nice to be back with the group. The 2wd is for real, and no G80. Perhaps some of my misfortunes will be able to help others. I've certainly learned from them, and learned a lot from the man himself, Roadie, followed by all of the other members on the OS.

Nick, we NEED you around to go in the soft sand and get stuck to be able to whip out our huge ...... recovery straps. :poke: :excited: :friday:

I've never seen a 2WD conquer the Calcite Mine Trail, though - without an assist. Very cool driving.

Its cool how many trails you all have, compared to us. Plus the scenery is so beautiful. Although Dawson forest (former Lockheed nuclear testing facility) has some cool trails on it.. but then you have to watch out for the cyclops deer that glow in the dark :cyclopsani:

I was extremely surprised when we made it. One of the best feelings I ever had in the desert for sure. Something I will never forget either. And maybe when cooler weather is upon us again we will go and try to get me stuck.

I think Big Bear would be too technical for a 2wd wouldnt it??

Phil - haven't been ignoring you. Was looking at my schedule and trying to propose a couple of possible dates for a Big Bear trip. This working for a living really cuts into my flexibility. Thinking about bringing my trailer for a base camp, because it's got heat and I'm getting wussy about tenting at 30 degrees. It can sleep three guys very comfortably, or three couples, but only two of the couples would have a full/queen size bed. I have to throw a new wheel bearing or two on it this season because last summer when I towed it to Mt. Rainier, one was running 20 degrees hotter than the other. Not dangerously hot, but I've got an IR thermometer that gives me some warning before bearings start to fail catastrophically.

80% of the trails around there are runnable in 2WD. Many of the tougher ones were (and perhaps still are) closed due to a 2008 fire. I think 10% of them are right at the limit of our 4WD, and 10% of them are hard-core that I looked at and turned around in horror. Worst was John Bull Trail. No way.

http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/San_Bernar ... a#Big_Bear

There was an entire day in Big Bear that I followed Teebes around after removing my driver's side CV shaft (the Gatorade cap used as a diff plug day) in 2WD. The G80 clicked in a bunch of times, but I managed.

Very interesting area, good for bikes as well. Can't locate my pictures at the moment, but I'll put some in a proposed trip thread.
