Hello TB (ers??),
My name is Casey and I have an '07 Trailblazer LS. It is currently stock but should be having leather seats installed sometime in the next two weeks. I know, that is not very off road, but leather cleans easier so it kind of is if you really think about it. Plus itll be heated seats now and with the whether the U.S is getting lately that can be appreciated by all. On that note, I am not currently with my TB, I am in Afghanistan at the moment, so much of what I want to do/have done will be by proxy or by waiting. Now, the meat and potatoes, what I want to do.
A; I want to lift it
B: I want to put better rubber on it
C: I am actually considering having the 3.42 changed to 3.73 or possibly 4.10's ( this will be based off of peoples thoughts)

Essentially I want to turn my TB into an off road/ daily driver with a functionally aggressive / armored look..military-esque type of vehicle that will pull what I want, run over prius's and take me to awesome spots where whitetail try to hide from people. I will read , and READ , and READ some more, but I will likely be questioning everything along the way and looking for advice from the experts. I have read forums where people are ABSOLUTELY slammed for asking questions and I hope this wont be the case here, as I am 29 yrs old, and a bit of a salty ol' soldier, so I give massive amounts of respect and expect just a touch in exchange. From what I understand, this is the place for a guy like me. So i look forward to speaking with many of you and picking your brains. What I can provide : a bit of knowledge of off-road driving ( but not much in the way of technical knowledge, and by not much I mean , next to zero). I have some unique experiences with high intensity/ high speed driving courses and practical application of some of those courses and some cool stories of driving some VISCOUS off road vehicles ( in the way of HMMWV's). Thats about all I have. Cant wait to explore the site.

Welcome Casey! The guys on here are very helpful and will only bust your nuts in good fun. I joined the forum In October and learned enough in 3 weeks to lift my rig on my own. I think you will find everyone here helpful and the posts from these guys are invaluable. Good luck over there and stay safe.

Welcome, thanks for joining, plenty of ex/active military, contractors and LEO's here, you're in good company.

Be sure to check out the build threads to get an idea of what others have done to help you determine your goals.

We only harass noobs who show no desire to actually read before posting a question that's already been asked in the thread below theirs. Or people who join up, talk about how much they know, insult senior members with more experience and generally talk out their ass without actually contributing anything. This wonderful member here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4531 is a great example of how not to join.

Look forward to seeing your plans, and again welcome, hope you get to leave the sandbox soon.
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

basically gearing is determined by tire size, tire size is determined by your idea of a reasonable maintenance schedule.

All things considered I think 33s locked front and rear is going to prove to be a solid combo, with 4:10s or maybe 4:56s, with minimal breakage.

35s with an unlocked front has proven to be pretty reliable too.

If you're going through the trouble of regearing, don't waste your time and effort on 3.73s.

You'll fit in fine, seems you've possibly even read the welcome thread.

I hope I fit in fine. Yup, went and read the welcome letter ( which is great by the way, never saw a welcome letter with some much applicable information and links) only problem was the welcome letter had so many links to follow, I then got lost in the links reading everything I was linking too so it proved to be a longer evening than I was planning haha.

Hi, thanks for the warm welcomes. Yea I have some time so I am going to try to take things nice and slow. Hopefully I can accomplish what I want without having to "borrow" and MRAP and sell it. ( I am just kidding NSA trollers, I am not selling Army equipment). Got to be careful these days, haha.

Hi, thanks for the reassurance. I went ahead and read that link you sent- WOW!!! Some people are a special kind of ignorant. I am hoping to spend the next couple of months putting together, then reworking a decent build.... At which point I am sure someone on here will have posted another AWESOME build and I will likely rethink and re-budget the build again. After about 3 or four of those types of sessions, I imagine ill be getting close to going home so Ill have to finalize something. HAHA
