As mentioned above, I am new to the site. Also after much informative reading and research I have come to two conclusions.

1. My plan to transform my TB into a vehicle that can be driven daily while allowing for offroad/snow capabilities may be hindered by my shoe string budget.
2. Those who are ill prepared to ask questions that only the wisest, sharpest, most keen minds can answer should take caution in their words. They WILL be eaten whole by the ones they seek counsel from.

That being said, my 2003 TB (or is TB too juvenile) has been lifted using 2" spacers up front and 1.5" blocks in the rear. I am awaiting arrival of my new 265/70-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers ordered from discounttiredirect.com (heavy sponsors of supercross racing/my favorite sport). I am well aware now that I am going to need spacers to keep the new tread from scrubbing thanks to your nifty fitment guide! I am also in the process of decoding the z71 springs/shock issue to find the extra support I will need WHEN I DO go offroad (which I plan on doing). Also, I am looking into the possibility of powder coating the stock rims to add to the appearance of my vehicle. Say what you want but I'm not sure anyone has completely looked past appearance when navigating through the process of transforming their stocker into an offroad capable machine. With all that said my next step is to get back to the books, or in this case the threads, like one of those chinese kids kneeling on rice as their overbearing parents hover over them to be sure they "study hard" (insert chinese accent here). Shewww, my tiny brain is smoldering from trying to make sure I say everything just right. kjdbh;voUSJBF;J m,dvljsDB;LJbmfdjh;ougv;jbsv.......Damnit! I just passed out on the keyboard. I gotta go. Thanks for letting me lurk around.

Newbie.

P.S. I am in far East Tennessee, will be navigating mainly fire roads, fields, small creeks, log crossings, and occasional offroad trips to pickup the moonshine when needed. Most likely I will be transporting the car seat carrying my 3 year old daughter and my wife to and from church far more often than aforementioned illegal substance. Although I thought it fit quite well with my geographical placement and what most will envision when reading it. Good Day!

BOO! just checking!

Welcome!

265/70/16 Terra Grapplers should fit fine without wheel spacers, I had that same tire with only a 2" BDS lift, No rubbing issues.

A SINCERE Welcome from the chief proponent of the "tough love" approach. :shoot:

Until you get out on trails that the Jeepers think of as THEIR exclusive territory, you really haven't known hazing. I started lifting this platform and offroading in 2004, before almost anybody else was, and I took a lot of heat from the locals until I could prove myself semi-worthy in their eyes. I used to think I could turn it into a fire-breathing rock crawler, but that was just proof of my own inexperience. Without a SAS, it's really not that capable. That said, it's a fantastic platform for expedition driving :flex dirty: , because you can certainly live with more style out of what you can carry in or on the vehicle for a week than you can from a Jeep. :camping:

Thanks for the info on the spacers. I was beginning to think selling plasma and picking up aluminum cans was my only option. Man those things are expensive! Or is it that I'm too cheap? ;) I will test fit the tires just to be sure. Besides, I'm still trying to figure out how to paint the wheels and install the tires without having to pay twice. Thanks for the warm welcomes guys!

Welcome! Kudos on doing research before you posted and even set out some basic goals for yourself. You don't have to have a lot of money to lift it, buying other members used parts is always an option if you can't afford the brand new parts. Also you can swap wheels with other GMT360's with the same bolt pattern for a different look, and even paint them to your likings.

Only things that might bite you in the butt is when parts begin to fail due to excessive lift angles. Wheel bearings, cv shafts, ball joints, splined disconnect, etc.

Good luck, and welcome again.

I have experienced none of these issues.

welcome, aboard. That was one if the most amusing first posts I've read in awhile. Wish more new members took the time you haveto figure out what the forum is about.
While this hobby ain't cheap, it's definitely one of the cheapest vehicles to lift. I believe you're looking right at 1200 to get on 32s. As you see in a lot of threads, make sure you have some money for the inevitable failures that will occur after the lift.

My advice, do what I did in college, eat generic ramen, recycle bottles, get a second job and stay home a lot, spare cash appears pretty quick in that environment... admittedly it's "not for everyone".

That sounds like the American dream to me! I lived off of ramen, spam, vienna sausages, and frozen ground beef (by the tube). I also became a Chef on the Foreman grill... Oh the spare time one has when living in the barracks.

college was cheap beer, ramen, cans by the case of green beans and corn(parents thought that would balance the diet), tortilla chips and hotdogs. The dollar menu fast food was a treat!

Unfortunately my college days are long gone but i do remember lots of 2am runs to the convenience store for 2 for a dollar corn dogs. We had them on speed dial and would call at the drop of a hat any time of night for a delicious drunken treat! Now real life and important things like power, running water, a mortgage, and food for the daughter (which is now eating corn dogs regularly...ironic) have taken presidence over Lift parts and accessories. Im on my way though, tires will be here today and the off road bumpers are becoming more and more enticing! :D Z71 springs and new shocks all around MUST come first though. Back to my studies now.

When I was a river-guide, My diet consisted of peanut butter, granola bars, ramen, free cold cut sandwiches on trip days, and barley-malt sandwiches(PBR & Yuengling), in order to save money for the winter.
