We bought an 08 TB a few weeks ago and found the site. Great build threads and pix have given us some great ideas. Running boards have left truck so far and more mods to come... Is there a good aftermarket antenna that will work wth the XM radio?

Welcome! I hate to ask but what happened to your XM antenna? this has never came up before. Google tells me factory antenna with aftermarket radio is a common question but not the other way around. But if they can use a factory antenna with a aftermarket radio I don't see how it would be a problem the other way around. Just get a XM antenna from Fleabay or somewhere and try it!

I still have the original XM antenna on, but I have noticed it tends to whistle a bit at highway speeds. Would like to find a decent short antenna to replace it.

Do you have your roof rack bars still on top? That whistle is commonly heard from the roof rack cross bars, loosen the tabs and slide both to the rear and the noise will shift farther back and shouldn't bother you. Or pop off the front caps and remove them until you need them for something. My XM/ on star antenna doesn't make a peep, thus why they look like a fish fin to cut through the air.

I had not thought of the rack. I will slide the cross bars back. I was reffering to the other rod antenna on the passneger side. When I removed that one the whistling stopped. Thanks for the welcomes all. We look forward to seeing more builds.

the one on the passenger side is likely your standard AM/FM radio. I don't know if those signals go through the XM antenna or not. I would expect you can swap that one out just fine.
