Came here from Trailvoy. Had the TB since '07 swore I would never mod it. (I used to race SCCA and modded many a vehicle back in the day) However the rear end has sagged from towing, one thing led to another and I have the Z71 springs and Bilstien HD shocks on the way. Figured I got to tear it apart anyhow, a lift might as well go on while its apart.

I do a lot of hauling (500+ lbs in the cargo area) weekly off road in the mountains and I tow a few times a year. This forum seemed to fit what I'm looking for.

Well welcome to the otherside, LOL happy to have you here. We have a huge source of information here on just about anything you might want to do to a TB so you have come to the right place. Any pictures yet?

Well if you want to see what a stock 2003 TB with sagging rear springs looks like.......... sure I can snag some pics!

I got my front struts today in the mail, the rest is still on it's way.

I do have a question however (Yes I have been searching can't find it) Am I going to be ok running the bilstien HD TB shocks in the rear with the Z71 springs and a suspension lift? I got the 2.75" front and the .75" rear. Keep in mind I don't do rock crawling, I stick to the easier trails and rough dirt roads. I mainly was after more towing capacity than stock. But now I want some larger tires since I am lifting it but on stock 16" rims with no spacers. Am I going to have problems with the rear shocks or do I need to return the HDs when they arrive and get the BDS? Its a daily driver so I don't need super articulation, but I don't want it unsafe either.

TIA this forum rocks so far.

BTW Karo's truck is how I want mine to end up. Is this lift with tires gonna get me there? (minus the racks and guards I mean) That is freakin a bad lil ride. Perfect look and height. :awesome:

Bilsteins will not be dangerous... but you will top out the shocks regularly.

HA! You intro could have been mine word for word last March!

"I'm not modding this truck. I have cars. But.... since I have to fix it anyway I might as well do this... and this... oh, and this..."

There's a lot of "and this..."'s that will show up. :)

Welcome. If you haven't purchased the Bilsteins already, or can return them I would go with the BDS 5500s. Similiar in pricing and 2.5" longer than stock. Running a stock length shock on a Z71 spring + lift rear end isn't much fun. Hit a bump and they will top out and the rear of the truck will feel like it just jumped a little.
I own too many vehicles now. Let's leave it at that.

:Iagree: ditch the bilsteins and go with BDS 5500 in the rear. You will thank yourself in the long run.
