The answer is simple, which one mounts below your radiator and then sticks out in front of it, and which does not? I feel pictures will do the best educating here.

Where it gets mounted is important.

Add 2 inch lift, then add 2 inch bull bar that hangs below front bumper. And we've seen it done, on this site:

Ultimately depends what kind of roads, tracks and trails you're doing. No matter which guard you choose, or better yet get an MDB, make certain you install it yourself! Don't spend $300 on labor for someone else to install it incorrectly.... :wallbash:
The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

Here is a reason you want to preserve your approach/departure angles.

BTW, that's the same Hunter brand brush guard on the front as the previous photos, just modified by Mike when he mounted it to the bumper I ordered from him.

Wheeled with the guard that ruins... bent my radiator mounts. Straightened them and installed radiator skid and removed brush guard. .. much better now.

Welcome! The guys aren't steering you wrong. I personally suggest the radiator skid plate before any offroading. I've bounced off mine many times.... Which means I probably would have been stuck on a trail without a radiator many times.

Both the MDB Radiator skid and oil pan skid are a must! :thumleft: If you do decide on a brush guard that hangs down, MDB can craft a skid that works around and reinforces it. :tv:

I'd rather limp off a trail a few minutes at a time without a radiator than be missing my oil or PS fluid or fuel. I actually had a gas tank skid plate fabbed before I had the front bumper made; it was more important.

I'll have to agree with Bill, on the trip that the pics I have posted are from, one of the times I actually go stuck on rocks was caused by my hanging up on the little bar that runs across the frame below the fuel tank.

I'm actually glad the bar was there, it most likely prohibited more insulting damage to the vehicle. Before returning the next year, I had a fuel tank skid made up to avoid having a reoccurrence.

My Weston is the worst mistake I made. Unfortunately the wheeling around me hasn't given me an excuse to remove it. Although I'm sure my lesson to be learned is coming...
