Welcome to the site. I was born in Charleston, and all my family on my mother's side is from that central WV area. I have wheeled a couple times out there and loved it.

I'm compelled to mention to all new members if they're new to the platform, that the transfer case fluid change interval is a surprisingly short 50K miles, and it ONLY takes GM Auto Trak II fluid. 2 liters. How many miles does it have, and are you current on the TC fluid and the other 100K maintenance?

This was my worrie as well, So this weekend It will be changed. it has 170k miles on it. who ever had it ( before my wifes friends ) took very good care of it. Course today on the way home from work I found it will not not engage in 4wL turn the switch to low and the light blinks and it switches back to 4 high.. so I think its time to pull it into the garage and give it a full look over.

You dont want a complete stop, but rolling at a mile or two per hour(in neutral) seems to allow everyting to sync up better. Try that once if you get the chance.

Don't forget the neutral part. It won't shift to low range if you're in drive.
