If I found a totalled SS for a good price tomorrow, I'd buy it and put it on tons. I'd sell off all the stuff for this Runner project I still haven't finished.

Hows the clearance to the oil pan on the LS motors? Don't get me wrong, the solid axled rigs on here are awesome, but the one thing I don't like about them is how high they have to be to clear the oil pan, a low COG, one ton SS would be :drool3:

I would imagine the location of the oil pan relative to the rest of the frame/body would be nearly identical considering the intermediate shaft still runs through the oil pan. the front diff would have to be in nearly the same place to keep all the other suspension parts the same.

Erik, there are so many missed picture opportunities that I don't even know what to say

My problem with build threads is the lack of interaction. While I like and appriciate them, it isn't very useful to the builder to be writing one while he builds. However, I used them very much in my build. They are a great tool.

I measured them and a set of KM2's sitting next to the other. Mine are 315/70/17. His were 305/65/17. The demensions measured out exactly the way I expected them too, except one. The tread face, I was wider. I was taller. But what I didn't expect is that at the mid point of the side wall, he was about an inch wider than me. So, that's my guess of why they would look skinny to someone running mud tires. These will probably be lighter helping my gas milage! lol

Erik I'd love to know more about your transmission swap, what you had to get beside the 4L80e. I knew the SS guys where upgrading to the beefier transmission. Did you change oil pans or anything? Where you 2WD or AWD before hand?

3 weeks of owning the GXP and I'm pretty much convinced I want to do a swap over with the Trailblazer. Mostly because I want to tow an airstream down the line and keep running the larger tires and that's going to take more torque than the current setup affords.

Mike. As soon as I get a min. I will try to write something up on my build sheet. It was an extensive swap. I helped with the mechanical end but rewiring the harness and programming the computer required an expert. (who would love to do another)

Maybe next years project. We have to get having a baby out of the way first and I need to put my Corvette back together. Pursuing this or a 5.3L is high on the hit list. The 6.0L LS2 is more attractive since I can see myself moving parts from one LS3 block to the LS2 block which are almost identical castings.
