Hi I have studied this site for a while and found some great tips, love looking at all the great builds and tips. Just starting my build has to be off road, while maintaining daily driver status.

Welcome. 2WD eh?

Just remember that you'll need to substitute traction with speed to hit the same trails as a 4WD... which can tend to lead to damaging results.

But hey, at least you don't need to worry about the same limitations us 4WD guys do in the front suspension. Lift it to the sky.

Well I have started to explore the options of putting a 4wd under it, I work at a GM dealership and have all the tools and know how to do such a big job. Looking for a wrecked in the rear 4wd at salvage now. Just to have spare parts as well.

If I were 2wd and wanted 4WD, I would sell and shop for a V8 4X4.

4WD wouldn't be impossible to swap to. Just lengthy and involved.

Would definitely not waste time and effort putting stock 4x4 in it....solid axle if you are going to invest that much.

If you are not going the stock route and want to do a full blown SAS build, take a look at these threads:

viewtopic.php?f=77&t=2436
viewtopic.php?f=77&t=1562

Or alternatively, if you are just looking to go fast off-road, you can do a pre-runner type build and not worry about the front wheel drive. You could get a fair amount of travel out of the front arms since you don't have to worry about a CV shaft.
