Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

New to OffroadTB from Indiana, member at Trailvoy too.

New members: please introduce yourself here.

I am new to OffroadTB.com but I have been a member of trailvoy since last fall. I want to become a better off-roader. I have the liftmeister lift, but it hasn't been installed yet and I am eyeing those rock sliders for $595. How many off-road Isuzu Ascenders are there? Being the least common of the 360/370 platform, I have to ask. One of these days I would like to make it to the Bundy Hill off-road park, because it's close to my house.

Welcome!

I'm pretty new myself. I haven't seen an Ascender on here myself.

I'm a couple hours from Bundy Hill myself. Haven't been there yet, but hope to get there soon. Let me know when you go.

Ascender? What's that? :poke: I can't say I've ever seen one in person. Welcome to the site, and congrats on being the rarest of us all.

I filled in my vehicle info. I have a Trailblazer. I was only asking because they are uncommon.

I am ready to put the lift on. I had a very fortunate event over the weekend... got a two-day job! I now have the money for a wheel alignment after the install. I am slightly questioning the 'extreme' factor of the liftmeister lift. Seeing that it looks like Hardtrailz uses it, all doubts have been cured (correct me if I'm wrong). If it can be installed within 8 hours, next Tuesday will work. (Exams 8-10am and 5:45-7:45pm) I have one control arm left to replace and the CV axle needs grease (seizes so bad that a loud pop is heard and the whole vehicle shakes (sometimes). Somehow my 35mm "GM axle" socket doesn't fit so I will be taking it back and getting the 36mm.

If your CV joint is popping that bad, I'd bet it needs more than grease. But the good news is that the replacement shafts are super cheap on the TB.

The kit works. Has not failed anyone.

I did the suspension by myself in about 4 hours. But I would say to fix everything first, because a lift seems to amplify any problems.

Anyway...Welcome!

This is where I will need to do a thorough inspection. I am thinking not the CV joint itself, but where the axle actually goes through the oilpan. Corrct me if I'm wrong.

Gonna need more information in order to help you out. Exactly when does it occur.

It occurs anywhere between the time I step on the brake to shift out of park and a distance of 25 feet from my starting location. It doesn't make the loud pop all the time either.

Unless you're driving with 4WD engaged, I doubt it's the diff or 4WD actuator.

If it happens only right after being parked, I'd say it's related to the transmission parking lock. But I could be wrong.

If it was the CV, I'd expect it to lock up anytime you sat at a light or so. Very strange... can anyone offer any other insight?

Is it just driving in a straight line, or are you more prone around turns? Give some more specific instances.

Also, welcome. Lift will be relatively easy to install, once you can do it. Definitely fix the problems first, as you could get in over your head if you don't. Use some of the threads here and on the OS to prepare for the lift so it is as easy as possible. There are members using rock sliders from an Ebay vendor that are closer to a $200 price tag, so check them first. But I would say that it would behoove you to look into something like underbody protection and tires before you jump into sliders. Unless you are running meats that will handle terrain where you'll need sliders, they are a waste of money.

Welcome you are among good company here. Good choice with the lift a lot of people on here use Marks lift and are very happy. I agree with Mrsmithstb,I too would worry about tires and under body protection before rock sliders unless you have the money to do it all at once. Good Luck! :mechanic:

I definitely want better tires, but not until my current ones are gone. I was surprised at the cost of the sliders because I was expecting more. Other things will happen before those, I'm not sure exactly what or in what order, but underbody protection, tires, and a grill guard is on the list. Regulator informed me that I should replace upper strut mounts.
