Easiest and cheapest way to get g80

Hi I've been looking and looking at opinions of g80 swaps for my 2005 trailblazer ls; it has a 2 inch lift and has 31.5 inch tires on it. I know I have a 3.42 differential ratio and a 8.0" differential. I'm open to a axle swap if needed. I'm only 17 and on a tight budget, so i don't want to screw anything up, but i want to install g80 or some type of locker in my trailblazer. If i go from a 3.42 to a 3.73 what would i need to do? ive found two different opinions for axle swaps on ebay that im not sure about, looking for opinions, suggestions and tips.

If you go to 3.73, you will have to regear the front axle also...
Would probably be easier to just get on Car-Part.com and find a G80 axle, or the better way would be a 8.6 with a open diff and put a lock right locker for it

But I'll add this. If you plan on going to bigger tires(33" and bigger) skip the 3.73 and go to 4.56 thats if you know how to/know someone who can regear. Otherwise I'd try to find a 4.10 front diff and rear axle if 33s are planned. Be prepared to shell some cash on the project. When I did mine it set me back $1,400 thats for front diff and rear axle.

This doe snot go hand in hand at this time. You would be much better off at this time to save your money up for repairs. Keep your mods smaller at this time and for the extra money you are going to dump into fuel. Once you change gearing, your mileage will change and your speedometer will be off and then you need to get that adjusted. which will lead to getting the PCM reprogrammed. The list will go on and on, which will lead to parking it because you can't afford to do it all.

so are you saying the easiest way to go would be to get the g80 axle swap that has my same differential ratio. as of now im not doing anything else with my tires since i just got new ones this year.

Easiest would be to find a axle that already has a G80 with your current gearing
Look on Car-part.com and you should be able to find one fairly close to you for cheaper than buying a G80 diff and having it swapped to your current axle
