I have heard of the Caspirus trail in Western PA, near Connellsville. Never been though, and it sounds like it's an out-and-back type trail.

You mean to say that the Paragon park is still open, just under a different name/management? There are a lot of people around me that believe it to be closed entirely.

Jamie it doesn't take much time, only $$$ :-)
I expect Mark can have you a lift/wheel spacer at your door before the middle of next week.
Mike can get you on the list for skids and you should be ready in plenty of time.
All it takes is $$$.
If you need any help installing a lift, I'm just a little over an hour from you.

Take a weekend and a buddy and drive out there. get the skids and axle from him, and what you save on the 3 will more than double pay for your gas... I'm just sayin'... Been there, done that (similar, anyway)...

The images above are a public area? Is that considered drivable terrain? I wish I knew more about the PA forests, but they don't seem to cater to off-roaders. Maybe they do but I just don't know the right places to explore.

I've found some decent looking maps of Rothrock and Moshannon state forests that seem to imply some fair land to explore. But nothing definitive.

Pa has a completely different view point on off-roading than other states in the South and even New Jersey. In Pa, most public land, state forests, parks, game lands etc have basically the same rules. Most don't even allow ATV's for hunting purposes. Most places I am able to wheel is because there is a little gray area like bigezzeck mentioned, The most they can do is ask you to leave. Now in New Jersey, they cater to offroading. The state forests such as Wharton have maps of the roads/trails and even provide the service of leaving an itinerary at the ranger station for off roaders. And beyond that, every little piece of public land and power line get wheeled in/on in NJ.

FWIW, I'm not all about wheeling and camping in a place that we're not supposed to be, even though they can't really do anything to us, legally, for being there... Doing that stuff locally is one thing, but I'm not driving halfway across the country to do it, when I can do it 3 miles from my house...

:Iagree:

GWNF still gets my vote. It's like the official unofficial TECORE location. Almost like a pilgrimage.
