I just replaced mine today with a moog ball joint. I think it is the same part # you posted. If that is the case, and its the same freakin part...then I may go that route in the near future and do all of the ballljoints

What would have been a smooth and free evening turned sour...
Replaced the idler pulley and the spark plugs. But when loosening the 10mm screw that holds the #6 coil my ratchet slipped and my 10mm socket went flying...
Where it stopped, I'll probably never know.

My grandpa (farmer and retired auto teacher) would always do tons of maintanence right before a trip...
I remember getting stranded and/or him having to make on-the-road repairs many times when I was young... Stuff like a new thermostat that slammed (and stayed) closed as he passed a car, so here we are, in the middle of nowhere, taking the thermostat out completely, filtering water out of the ditch through a doubled up undershirt...
New alternator failed one time... A new oil filter split on us one time, the next morning (cold)... A wheel bearing grenaded on us after about 100 miles into a trip, because he had replaced front rotors and pads right before we left...
He always bought top of the line stuff, too, but shit happens... And this was before everything was made in China...
Because of this, I try not to touch anything within a week or 2 of going on a trip...

Thanks for the wisdom Mike. I started getting a rough idle and a misfire code a couple months ago (right before we moved)... needless to say I haven't had time! Something about moving is like a black hole to free time.

Idling great now... she used to be throwing a #2 misfire - the plug even smelled like gasoline compared to the other plugs. The pulley was making a lot of noise, sounded like a supercharger once it warmed up. I pulled it and the bearing was a little sloppy and had slung some grease. Seal must have failed. I'm a believer in staying basically stock when it comes to engines and transmissions, so I went with AC Delco.

Put a new waterpump in this weekend. I was going to be nice and do a write up on it, but sadly I had strict time restraints (sorry James 
). We needed both rigs within about 4 hours, and I was expecting a long process like most things dealing with this rig. But to my surprise I was done within a hour 
!!!
The hardest part was pulling the fan and shroud!! The waterpump itself was a breeze... Literally the thermostat is a much harder project..

Yeah I avoid maintenance right before trips or offroading weekends, just so that if something happens due to it, it happens when i'm in the city.

I've been worried that my cat had partially plugged itself, due to my horrendous (12.5MPG highway) mileage... and the fact that the truck seemed to be seriously lacking powerwise.
Did my due diligence first and replaced an 88K mile O2 sensor yesterday. Improvement across the board... the truck even downshifts more confidently. Still think my cat may be in trouble though. My exhaust is not "pulsey" at the tailpipe. When my Camaro plugged it's cat, I had the same symptom.
Also decided to tackle my intermittent stereo cutout problem. I discovered possibly the most ludicrous system GM put into our trucks: The "premium" audio system. After discovering my $100 Class 2 Bus interface had fried itself, I got a hold of the factory schematic for the amped system. Several hours, added wires, and deleted amps later, I have no RAP, but a working and much better sounding stereo. I need to find another ignition-on power source that is on the RAP timer if there is such a thing.
I still need to pony up and buy the stuff for my G80 and front disconnect. Too many house projects now that the wife is living here again. Ahh priorities.
Anyone on the west coast want to buy a new home theater/distributed audio setup for their home? I'm reasonable.

Got my trans cooler, rotated and balanced my tires. I took out the balancing beads, and swaped one feathered tire for my never used spare. There is still a weird vibration. I hope to keep getting work so I can buy some of those re tread tires and sell my mtr's.
I still need to get my skid plate on , new spark plugs, flush coolant, 02 sensor, and new battery. I dont mind the extra maint. from off roading, I really do enjoy working on my truck.
