I have replaced 2 sets of front hubs on my TB now running 255/75/17s. The first set lasted about 65,000 Kms (appx. 41,000 Miles) the second set I am hearing allot of noise after less than 10,000 kms (6,500 Miles). Was wondering what kind of life peopple are getting modded (Lifted, spacers & tires) vs stock? (Before your TB hit puberty)

One of my aftermarket hubs has been good for about 90k so far, while lifted. The other is somewhere around 70k.

And - just a note, you'll need to move one vote from "stock 30-50" to "stock 50+".... I clicked the wrong spot, and this software doesn't appear to allow editing of votes once submitted.

I haven't been on mine long enough for a vote, still good at over a year.

HARDTRAILZ replaces his yearly, Moots had a hub last 9 months.

I'm not sure how many miles I have since lifted. But we drive it (A LOT) all over. We're still on our stock hubs.

I have no idea how many miles I have on my stock hubs, at least 32,000 miles though. :coffee2:
The problem with the Trailblazer is, people think you know what you're doing.

if I remember right my stock ones lasted about 90k but my cheap ebay ones lasted less than 20k, about 18mos.
If you do a little searching Kyle has an ebay vendor that has a lifetime warranty for a pair for about $85 shipped. They offer one pair replacement. Basically 4 hubs for $85.

The stock bearings are high quality and should be kept until they make noise.

Unless you just like spending money needlessly.

I live in wyoming which means I have to wheel just to get home. My town has just four "paved roads" and no stop lights. Trust me we wheel very often, I am also on the SAR team and my TB is always my go to rig for a search. I guess I had that coming though since I never post any trips LoL.

The big killer for the stock hubs is deep water crossings. The increased loading from our larger tires and increased offset don't seem to affect them as much as some aftermarket bearings.

So if the stock hubs are so much better and last longer, why not use them instead of the others. Seems to me that in the long run you would paying more for hubs. Excluding the warranty one of course. Are the high quality versions not unavailable or like $300-500 each?

They're $233 on RockAuto.

the Chinese versions on ebay are $75-85 per pair.
The Timkens which is a good aftermarket run about $150 each (at Rock Auto).
The AC Delco's which I would guess are OEM are close to $250 each (at Rock Auto).

I know this is a very limited data set but...
My stockers lasted about 6 years.
My cheapos lasted about 1.5 yrs.
with that logic, I would go through 4 sets of cheapos in 6 years.
4*$75 = $300.

$300<$500

If you go with Kyle's eBay vendor basically you buy one set and get a set free but they cost $10 more. Kyle would only spend $170 in 6yrs on hubs.

I don't mind changing them out to save some $$$.

Other folks who are on the road more or maybe drive long distances, the piece of mind might be worth it.
Mine howled for a couple months before I changed them, I had plenty of notice and even when I changed them I likely could have gotten a few more months out of them.

Like anything you have to weigh your situation and make the best choice for you. If you spend a lot of time in your TB and drive long distance a good bit, are away at college and don't have access to tools etc, it might make sense to spring for the better quality hubs if you can afford them.
