Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Its time for a V8

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

True. Hot metal and cold water can create some issues, sometimes big issues. However, with all the water crossings videos and discussions and things I have seen. A manifold cracking is something i have not heard of. My old s-series blazer was over the hood on several occasions and never had an issue.

Good to hear your experiences. Thx. The 7 miles leading up to that water crossing are a very flat sand trail, windy through the cactii so you can't get up a good head of steam, and are one of the most benign lead-ins out there. So I wasn't going in extra hot at all. Sounds much more like a one-of-a-kind fluke, then.

Pretty tough to pass up. If you know the history of it and it has been taken care of...I think you would have to jump on it.

Thats what I was thinking, but on top of that, I could take it, keep it for a month or two, and then turn around and sell it for at least 5 grand more then what I paid if I stay patient.

So this could be a good way for me to make some more money and try to get an 08 TB, or LR3, who knows. Anyways I just know that I have dealt a set of cards that have a few possible out comes. I just need to play my hand right.

You'll get spoiled with the aftermarket.

But then again... who hasn't seen an FJ off road... it's nothing new.

Definitely jump on the FJ, if only to make the profit on it. We're selling 08's for mid 20s out here. Can't say I'd go with an LR3 though... too much stuff to break... rather spend the same money on a disco 1 and all sorts of goodies, or a SAS for the TB.

FJs are like Hummers. They don't have normal windows you can actually see out of. They're just "viewing ports." :finger:

I've seen the Sinister SS video awhile ago, and one seriously has to ask, was that actually any cheaper than just buying an SS and painting it orange?
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

Just buy and lift a REAL SS! Unlike that video of putting HUGE money into a regular trailblazer just to have an SS looking matte finish LS trailblazer....
If I was going to build an offroad SS from scratch, I would start with a 2 wheel drive. I would do a 4L80E swap with a full size transfercase, and put a solid front axle under it.

He gets lower insurance. I can't see that being cheaper than an actual SS though becuase he even swapped motors. Plus fully dyno matt the interior, custom hood, and probably a $4000 paint job. I mean I can find SS's all day long for 14K on Craigslist.

My insurance is not bad at all. I paid more for my 2004 Dodge 4x4 4 door Ram.

Since a paint job like that is probably going to run what I paid for my truck I think the answer to that is pretty obvious.
But then again this thread started out discussing the possibility of a V8 swap. It's been done according to the video.
