Scangauge 'AFR' Behavior

Something not working right?

by Trail X » Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:43 pm

What is the behavior of your AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) gauge on the Scangauge?

Mine seems to operate as I would expect upon startup. It reads 14-10 depending on throttle input.

However it seems that once the engine is warmed up, the gauge sticks at 14.6 (unsure of the units).

I'm wondering if this is normal behavior of the AFR gauge on our trucks (maybe the computer sets the AFR once it enters closed loop mode?), or if this is indicative of a dead O2 sensor.

If anyone can tell me how their AFR gauge behaves on their truck, that would be helpful.

I'll check, but it should swing rich/lean about 1x per second. Though I don't know if it's telling you the set point, or the actual O2 sensor readings...

I was guessing it was displaying translated O2 readings. But that was why I was asking... if it's displaying set points, it may make sense sticking at 14.6 once in closed loop.
