Rough idle

Something not working right?

by fire_fighter1992 » Mon May 30, 2011 2:54 pm

So my car today decided that it was gonna run like crap. It threw three codes

P0507
P0016
P0106

It's idling really rough around 400-500 rpms almost like a misfire. But when I give it a little gas everything smooths out it first did it to me in town last night. So I tried to limp it home about half way home it starts idling fine running normaly so I thought maybe a little bad gas. So drove it home started it up this morning and all was good went had breakfast then I was almost home it started doing it again. Now its hardly running and it's idling rough again... :wallbash:
It's a 2004 4.2 Ive maintained this vehicle perfectly since the day it was new.

The Roadie with the shop manual beats Google every time. I would not do this anymore on the OS.

P0507: Idle RPM doesn't match commanded RPM.
P0106 MAP sensor out of expected range.
P0016 Crankshaft to camshaft position deviation

How many miles, and when was the last time you cleaned the throttle body with a PCM relearn?

It has 180000 miles on it. I cleaned the throttle body about 6000 miles ago. Haven't done the PCM relearn you think maybe that's what's causing it?

It looks like it could be either the MAP or one of the position sensors. My money would probably be on the MAP, but it'd be good to check it first to ensure it's bad.

Do you have a scangauge by chance? That could help diagnose things.

Nope no scanguage but after all the problems this thing has given me I think I'm gonna get a scanguage. Yeah I was thinking it might be the map sensor.
