Problem with CL is, 90% of the sellers want way more than their stuff is worth and 95% of the buyers dont want to pay anywhere near what something is worth.

If i had the money I'd be all over this at that price, about what there run here minus the years of being driven in salt...

I've had good luck selling most everything on CL and getting mostly what I wanted for it.

Kbb=Portland---$5582.00 to $5407.00 private party.

Might be worth the drive for anyone with salt problems.

When I sell something, I usually have my target in my head and then mark the vehicle up $500 to give me some negotiating room with the potential buyer.

I did that one time with an old Ford Ranger that had over 210k miles and a guy bought it full price.

Well, I just saw yet another 2003 with 165k go on CL today. asking $5500 so you would think my 6k was worth calling on?? Apparently not. Not a call or email in weeks from a legit buyer, only scammers. May have to take it to the auction soon and see how I do there............

Otherwise the 07 will never get the attention it deserves!

Have you tried checking out CarMax yet? Are they in your area? It probably will be lower than what you want, but may be higher than a private seller might give you.

is $6k the least you would take?
If a lot of folks are searching prices $5500 and under they won't see it.
it might be they can do $5500
If you have it marked up to give you some bargaining room you could lower it and price it as FIRM to get more hits.

When searching for vehicles I always extend my search about $1k over my budget just in case something is close, I can usually get someone where I want to be.

I do the same as you when searching. Also, my add is OBO and like others have mentioned I usually add about $500 on top of my bottom line so there is room for someone to make an offer. but if you put your price at say 5500 firm, you still get people asking you to take less. Its a game of course and I have owned so many cars that I have seen some strange things!

I suppose my posts are more of a commentary on how things are changing and how we have to adapt to move forward! Thanks for the feedback. 8-)
