yo i gots 33's right now on the beast

wondur if i can fit some 36's up in that thing

anyone yous running this?

Hey OLeBLue02, thought I recognized your handle from somewhere. Your instagram photos you posted confirmed it.

Since you're a "coo guy who can do without the drama" as it says in your profile, and you left nice compliments on my Instagram photos, I'll give you a friendly heads up. You might want to take a moment to read the stickies at the top of the threads here, as is a common recommendation, and take some time to browse the site as well.

For instance in the Random Rig Shots thread, which you commented on, Hardtrailz talked about the swamppers on his truck being 36s, but the tread is worn and perhaps a fullsize 36 would be challenging (correct me if I'm wrong please Hardtrailz). However for Dirty Anton and Chevy Crew with the solid axle swaps, they're running much larger. It depends on your setup and how far you want to go.

So you may want to offer a bit more information so we can help answer you question. What type of lift do you have? Are you willing to trim the fenders and bumpers to make the tires fit, especially if you're hardcore offroading and stuffing them? Or are you interested in going full on SAS?

As many will recommend, use the search feature as well as read the build charts, tire size guide, and you'll find most of your answers.

Kyle has proven the setup. He got pretty crazy flex on the 35s, his only hang up was just a smidge of clearance when fully stuffed on the rear axle. Most of that could be fixed with kicking the axle back just a bit more than he had already and then cutting up the rear bumper, or a bump stop. There's also the lengthening of the brakes involved, but whatever.

The front is a bit more interesting, but obviously doable as proved by Kyle with some offroad work and MarkMC with some street driving. Kyle mentioned it's not offroad capable, and he's correct, you'd need the right offset and a decent amount of cutting and welding to get it opened up.

Jason, are you saying overall 36s are not offroad capabale at all, or they are not offroad capable without the proper offset and body work? The wording confused me slightly.

I had my other 36s rubbing all the time, but these with the little i drove around the woods and on the street do not at all.

My 35s rubbed the frame slightly, but no where else in front. The rear was fixed with a simple bumpstop.

Lots of variables to consider if you really want to run something like this. I did it for fun, not for long term.

Sorry, I'm tired. It's been a long night/day/whatever

Even with the right offset you're looking at some firewall rubbing during compression, assuming the fender is cut enough. Kyle said he didn't believe they were offroad capable with his mods and I believe it. He's played with a lot of setups. With a good offset you can clear the frame, but while turning you hit the firewall. So obviously the firewall needs cut, welded, seam sealed etc. (or the whole front axle needs moved forward, or both). In addition the rear axle would need kicked back like Kyle did and the rear bumper needs to be clearanced as well as the body hangdowns/cabin vent... it's why I chopped them up.

Kyle and MarkMC has experimented a lot to get us to 36s on the street and 35s wheelable. All my thoughts beyond 35s are estimated guesses based on their experiences from before I even owned a trailblazer.


33s locked or 35s with just the rear locked seem like the most durable/capable solution. Beyond that you're playing with fire. If you guys still plan on dumping the TB next year I would probably just enjoy it for what it is and drive it. If you go beyond what you have now, or lock what you have now, you're going to need to spend a bit of money and a good bit of fab time to make it reliable.
