Had to get new tires

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Well after picking something up in on the shoulder of a tire I had to buy new tires today. They weren't the tires I wanted since I would have had to wait a few days and my spare wasn't much better than what was there. For now I have Yokohama Geolandar A/T S 265/70R16, I guess I will have to see how they work out. They are sitting fairly close to 31" tires and to the knuckle. I basically bought what I had to, I wanted wheels as well.

It couldn't have come at a worse time with the wife's vehicle down and working on it, plus I have a trip back to our scout camp in Utah this weekend. Have to drop the fuel tank on the van and hopefully have to just replace the fuel filter. :(

I will have to get a better pic and angle of the knuckle

Those look nice man. Should do you well on your desert trips.

Doesn't get much closer than that to the UBJ!

If it were any closer I would definitely be doing some grinding. For now I will just keep an eye on it to see how it fairs. I was wanting to get the Falken Wild Peaks LT265/70R16 LoadRange D but it would have been a couple of more days to get them in. I was going to also get the Gunner 6 wheels but couldn't swing it for now. The backspacing on the Gunner's are 5.5" so I would have had .5" more of a gap.

Yokohama's have normally done me well in the past. The Goodyear's that came off were the original tires that came on there with just under 50k and 5+ years old in this desert. Since I bought the truck last year in March I have put on 19K so they did well even with the beatings I gave them.

Nice choice. Those tires have decent on and off road manners and a great tread life.

Thanks, I always try to keep up with tires and pick out good ones to do what I want them to. Tomorrow I have to go back, they screwed up and didn't put the best tire as the spare so I am getting the matching tire for a spare at 50% off.

Sucks, man! Been there, done that!

A couple years ago, I was rebuilding the front end of my Cummins (outer U-joints, bearings, brakes, etc. in the front D60), and was waiting on a regulator/rectifier to come in the mail for my bike, and my car popped a coolant fitting while I was at work... Had to get a ride home from my co-worker, and bring my dad's truck to work the next day with the car trailer, and drag my car home and fix it that night... Blew...

My wife's water pump blew up in her VW while I had the TB down for work. That was a long week of waiting for parts to come in and a longer night in the garage.
