Driveshaft Carnage

While alone (bad idea) on John Bull Trail - Big Bear Lake area, before Teebes arrived, I slid sideways due to unfamiliarity with my new (used) tires. Sigh. The rock was like the Matterhorn, all sharp and pointy, and one peak got me in the driveshaft. While I was still trying to drive off it. Bad idea #2.

I have a junkyard one enroute for $62 shipped, but here's the advice to all of you. I forget when the changeover was, but I am so totally glad I had the steel version, not the aluminum. Aluminum would probably have crumpled or creased.

Please check in with your model and year if you have the aluminum, and consider a swap for strength.

Wowzers. Reminds me of another trail report I read on my club's website... except his failed... that was an S-10. So it's good to know ours is stronger than the ol' S-10s!

It was at a point along this trail that we heard a plea on the CB that I think I am in trouble. Paul who was bringing up the rear was looking under his truck when we all came back to see what was wrong. He produced from under his truck several scrap pieces of metal and cardboard that he claims were his rear driveshaft. Everybody stood in disbelief as we tried to figure what to do next.
